Dinty Moore’s

O. O. McIntyre // Dinty Moore’s- a little chophouse across the street from the Globe’s stage entrance- is the rendezvous for chorines from Broadway’s ensemble. It has high-powered lights and plain food…and a certain sort of gaiety that makes it very popular.

“Meet you at Dinty’s” is the chorus girl’s farewell to friends after the afternoon round of cafes. Despite several revenue raids, “Dinty” manages to hold his clientele.

These new resorts spring into popularity over night but most of them try to enlarge with prosperity and soon fade from sight.

There was Jimmy Kelly’s in the rear of a Sullivan Street plumbing ship. “Billie the Dope” played the piano and patrons in evening clothes sat about on beer kegs. There was always a fight in progress. Jimmy dolled up the place and the patrons left.
